Podium from Last Place! 🥉

Hey Guys,

Back at the Sydney Supernight for Round 2! That was a pretty wild weekend, especially that Sunday night race. We didn't quite have the pace through the dry, but the car was lightning in the wet.

Quali was a tricky one on Saturday for the whole pit lane. It was risk vs reward, use your softs now or save them for the rest of the weekend. We decided to keep a set of the softs in the bank for Sunday as the rocket wasn't firing and qualified in P14.

It wasn't the best start to the night race after getting pushed wide on the opening lap. I pitted early after starting on hard tyres, and made the undercut straight through to P8 with the softs on. Because I stopped so early, the tyre life started to drain towards the end and I dropped back to finish in P14.

The rain came on Sunday, and it was a whole new ball game. I had some really good runs and qualified in P3 & P2 for the races.

The rain was hovering in the distance when we lined up for the Race 24 grid late in the arvo, but we decided to run the hards for the first part of the race. That backfired and I dropped down the order pretty quickly 😅  When the softs got strapped on, I fought back to P8 and finished there.

As we prepped for the final race, news came through to the garage that the car had exceeded the front bodywork width in qualifying and I was sent to the back of the grid. It nearly felt like Bathurst 2014 starting from the last spot! I had a red hot run through the field early as the rain came pouring down, I was up by 17 spots before I pitted on Lap 12! Once I hit the track again, I picked off a couple more to power into P3. I was pretty devastated they had to red flag the race but in the end it was right decision.

Everyone has worked so hard these last two weeks, and we aren’t done with yet, but it’s nice to add a trophy to the collection that’s for sure. Let the Sydney swing continue, chat to ya's next week.

Cheers,

Chaz
