MOSTERT CLAIMS POSITIVE AGP RESULTS

Chaz Mostert has finished the Australian Grand Prix with a handful of positive results and now sits 4th in the Championship Standings.

Race 3 – Position 5

Mostert dropped a spot on the opening lap at the Melbourne 400 but kept within arms reach of the leaders throughout the 25-lap race that went without a safety car.

Mostert did a great job racing against a lack of car balance after starting P4 and finishing in P5 in the uneventful Race.

Race 4 – Position 6

Saturday’s first Race had very minimal laps and no pit stops, but Mostert moved from P9 to P6 and made some good passes in tricky conditions.

Mostert was pleased to have a straight and solid race car for Race 5 later that day.

Race 5 – Position 10

Mostert was running P3 in Saturday’s night Race, but a failed gamble cost him a podium finish.

The team elected to bring the driver in for a set of wet tyres when the rain began to fall, but the conditions quickly changed and Mostert was unable to claim back his position.

Race 6 – Position 4

Mostert improved on his P4 starting position to claim his sixth top ten finish in as many races in 2018, the only driver in the field to do so.

Mostert has remained 4th in the Championship Standings after two rounds and is looking forward to chasing some podium positions at the Tasmania SuperSprint on April 6 -8.

“IT WAS A GOOD WEEKEND OVERALL, BUT I’M NOT AS CONFIDENT IN THE CAR AS I’D LIKE TO BE. I THINK WE MADE THE CAR BETTER, BACK TO A MORE GENERIC, HAPPY CAR WITH US BY THE END OF THE WEEKEND, BUT WE STILL HAVE SOME PRETTY BIG GAINS TO MAKE IN THE CAR. OBVIOUSLY OUR COMPETITORS HAVE BROUGHT OUT A MONSTER OF A CAR THIS YEAR, WHICH HAS BROUGHT A LOT OF OTHER TEAMS INTO THE MIX AT THE FRONT, SO WE’VE GOT TO STEP OUR GAME UP AND TAKE IT TO THEM GOING FORWARD. OVERALL I THINK WE DID THE BEST WEEKEND WE COULD WITH WHAT WE’VE GOT, SO I’M HAPPY WITH A CONSISTENT WEEKEND. SATURDAY WAS A SHAME, WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE TO GET A TROPHY, BUT IT’S ONE OF THOSE THINGS THAT GOES FOR YOU SOME DAYS AND AGAINST YOU ON OTHERS.”
