CHAZ MOSTERT CLAIMS SECOND PODIUM AT BATHURST 6 HOUR.

Chaz Mostert has returned to Mount Panorama with Nathan Morcom to claim their second podium at the Bathurst 6 Hour. 


HIGHLIGHTS

  • Chaz finished P5 and P7 in the Practice sessions.
  • Chaz set a new race lap record.
  • The duo finished P2 in the Race.

The team faced an electrical overheating problem in practice with the Focus RS, but Mostert managed a P5 finish in his drive in the new car.

In the final practice session the team finished P7, after the oil cooler was split.

Mostert headed out to qualify first without a working oil cooler and no boost, but some issues saw him retire early finish P16.

Mostert’s first stint was just under 1.5 hours, but within the first 30 minutes the safety car was sent out for 40 minutes.

With the CPS window open Mostert pitted but it put him at the back of the field.

Mostert swapped with Morcom who did a double stint got the car up to P1 before the final pit stop where he swapped back with Mostert.

Mostert’s second double stint saw him take the lead after climbing up from P7.

Mostert was overtaken in the last 2 minutes after the 5th & 6th gear in the Focus RS dropped out, but held on to finish P2.

Mostert set a new lap record in the Focus RS during the Race.

The Bathurst 6 Hour doubled as Round 1 of the Australian Production Cars Championship.

Mostert & Morcom will take part in the remaining 5 Rounds at Winton, Sydney, Ipswich, Phillip Island and Wakefield Park.

Mostert will now prepare for Round 3 of the Supercars Championship at the Phillip Island SuperSprint on April 21-23, with all Races to be televised LIVE on Fox Sports.
