MOSTERT TESTED AT DARWIN TRIPLE CROWN
Chaz Mostert has faced a character building weekend at the Darwin TripleCrown for Round 6 of the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship.
- Chaz qualified P7 for Race 11.
- Chaz finished P5 in Race 11.
- Chaz remains 5th in the Championship Standings.
Race 11 – Position 5
Mostert had a great start to the first Race at Hidden Valley.
The Supercheap Auto Driver had a 12-lap advantage on the cars around him and held onto a strong race strategy to finish P5.
Mostert lacked power in the #55 Car, but was happy with claiming a top five finish and finish with a straight car in Saturday’s Race.
Race 12 – Position 17
Mostert fought against the car in Qualifying and was only able to bring home a P13 result, missing the Top Ten Shootout.
A good start saw Mostert climb some positions, but after taking on a large fuel load he was pushed to the back of the pack.
Finishing in P17 Mostert was disappointed with the final day in Darwin but is optimistic about the car set-up to come at Townsville.
“THIS WEEKEND HAS BEEN AN ABSOLUTE MESS FOR US. WE COULDN’T GET ON TOP OF THE CAR. WE TRIED HEAPS OF DIFFERENT THINGS; IT’S JUST SOMETHING FUNDAMENTAL WITH OUR CAR THAT SOMEHOW DIDN’T WORK UP HERE WHICH IS REALLY UNIQUE. I THOUGHT WE MADE SOME REALLY GOOD GAINS FROM LAST YEAR COMING INTO THIS WEEKEND AND THIS IS THE FIRST EVENT THIS YEAR WHERE WE ENDED UP WORSE THAN WE DID LAST YEAR. WE NEED TO KEEP BUILDING AND WORKING ON IT IN THE DOWN TIMES AND BUILD IT INTO SOMETHING GOOD FOR THE NEXT ROUND.”
Mostert will now prepare for Round 7 of the Supercars Championship at the Townsville 400 on July 7-9, with all Races to be televised LIVE on Fox Sports.
