Race 15 – Position 2
Mostert qualified 3rd for Saturday’s Race and was one of six drivers to break the old Lap Record.
Jumping from 3rd into 2nd on the opening lap, Mostert pitted and rejoined the 39 Lap Race.
Mostert made several passes in the Race and held onto his position for a P2 finish.
Race 16 – Position 1
Mostert qualified 2nd for the 200km Race and had a stellar start to the Race, claiming the lead on the first corner.
Mostert took on more fuel than his race rival McLaughlin during the first Pit Stop and rejoined directly behind him.
The second stop saw Mostert use a shorter fill time and he shot back into the lead.
Despite a Safety Car bringing the field together, Mostert was able to shoot away from the other front runners at the restart to claim the Race Win.
“I AM ECSTATIC. IT IS GREAT TO GET THE WIN FOR THE TEAM AND FOR SUPERCHEAP AUTO. TO GET ANOTHER WIN FOR THEM IS EXCITING. THIS WEEKEND WE’VE HAD LEGITIMATE PACE ALL WEEKEND AND THE CAR HELD ITS PACE IN BOTH RACES. I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO GOING TO SYDNEY MOTORSPORT PARK FOR THE NEXT EVENT, WE’VE HAD SOME GOOD RESULTS THERE IN THE PAST. IF WE CAN STAY ON THE PODIUM AND KEEP PUSHING THE UPGRADES THROUGH WE SHOULD BE IN A GOOD PLACE AHEAD OF THE ENDUROS.”
Mostert will now prepare for Round 9 of the Supercars Championship at the Sydney SuperSprint on August 18-20, with all Races to be televised LIVE on Fox Sports.
