MOSTERT 10TH IN SANDOWN ENDURO OPENER
Chaz Mostert and Co-Driver J-Moff have finished P10 in Race 24 of the Supercars Championship at Sandown Raceway.
Race 24 – Position 10
Mostert qualified the car on the front row in P2, and Co-Driver James Moffat inherited the lead in Race for the Grid 1 after staying out when rain and hail hit the track but was pushed off the circuit at Turn 4, dropping back to finish P10.
Mostert picked off three cars in Race for the Grid 2 to finish P7 and set the Number 55 for a Row 4 start in the 161-lap race.
Moffat began the 161 lap Race in the Supercheap Auto Falcon from P7 but was forced to run wide to avoid a clash and dropped to P11.
After Mostert stepped into the Driver’s seat the best result he was able to manage was P10 with tire life issues.
Mostert was happy with the single lap speed of the car but believes there is a lot of work to be done to solve issues with Race Pace.
IT WAS A TOUGH DAY. THIS RACE REALLY SHOWED OUR DEFICIENCY IN SOME AREAS, EVEN THOUGH IT’S NOT THE RESULT WE WANT, AT LEAST IT’S A 500-KILOMETRE RACE THAT GIVES US A CLEAR INDICATION OF THINGS WE NEED TO WORK ON. WE’VE GOT TO LOOK FORWARD IN THESE TOUGH TIMES, THERE ARE SOME POSITIVES IN OUR ONE LAP SPEED, BUT WE JUST REALLY STRUGGLED FOR CONSTANT RACE PACE TODAY, AND THAT WAS PROBABLY THE THING THAT COST US THE MOST.”
Mostert will now prepare for the first Pirtek Enduro Cup Race and Round 12 of the Supercars Championship, the Sandown 500 on September 14-16.
