MOSTERT 5TH AT MACAU GT WORLD CUP
Chaz Mostert has finished 5th in a chaotic Macau GT World Cup Race for AAI Motorsport and BMW Motorsport.
Mostert began the weekend qualifying the AAI Motorsports team’s BMW M6 GT3 in P19 after fighting against a suspected throttle problem.
Starting at the back of the 20 Car Qualifying Race, Mostert was able to pull to a halt after a 12 car pile-up in front of him, and was one of eight drivers lining up when the race was restarted an hour later where he finished 5th.
Mostert drove his way into 4th in Sunday’s Race but had a touch with the wall and dropped into 5th, where he then finished.
Mostert was completely satisfied with his weekend overall and hopes to have the chance to return to the Macau World Cup in the future.
“OBVIOUSLY A LOT OF CARS WERE INVOLVED IN THE ACCIDENT AND CRASHED OUT, I WAS VERY LUCKY TO STAY OUT OF THE DRAMA. IT WAS GOOD THAT I HAD SOME RACE LAPS AFTERWARDS. I FEEL I’M MAKING IMPROVEMENTS OUT THERE EVERY LAP. OVERALL I’M SUPER HAPPY. SAYING I HAVE A P5 FROM MACAU IS FANTASTIC. I FELT MORE AND MORE RELAXED AFTER EACH SESSION. I DID TOUCH THE WALL BRIEFLY DURING THE RACE TODAY. I WAS REALLY LUCKY THERE. MY PERFORMANCE WAS GOOD ENOUGH FOR FIFTH PLACE IN THE END. IT WAS MY FIRST RACE ON THIS CIRCUIT, AND ONLY MY THIRD IN A GT3 CAR.I AM COMPLETELY SATISFIED AND HOPE THAT I GET THE CHANCE TO COME BACK.”
