MOSTERT FINISHES 9TH AT THE BEND

Race 22 – Position 9

After Qualifying and starting from P7, Mostert was hit several times in the opening laps and dropped positions, so pitted early to try and make his positions back, but with the Safety Car coming out shortly after it nullified any potential gains for the Number 55.

Mostert crossed the line in P9 and claimed his fifth consecutive top ten finish.

Mostert was satisfied with the result but believed there was still more to extract from the car before Sunday’s Race.

Race 23 – Position 12

Mostert had a tough qualifying session on a track covered in debris and traffic, finishing P24.

Moving up to P19 on the opening lap, the Supercheap Auto team opted to take their first stop on Lap 2 and Mostert rejoined in P22.

Mostert’s second stop came at the half-way mark of the race and he rejoined in P22, before climbing up to P12, 12 spots ahead of where he began.

Mostert is now 8th in the Supercars Championship Standings prior to the first Round of the Pirtek Enduro Cup next month, where he will partner with ex-Supercar Driver James Moffat.

IT WAS A TOUGH DAY. WE MADE SOME IMPROVEMENTS WITH OUR CAR FROM QUALIFYING TO THE RACE, BUT WE’RE STILL MISSING A LITTLE BIT OF AN ELEMENT OF THE CAR AT THE MOMENT. WE’VE CERTAINLY GOT SOME WORK TO DO AS A TEAM, BUT WE’LL KEEP CHIPPING AWAY, AND HEY, 12TH FROM ALMOST LAST ISN’T A BAD EFFORT, BUT I FEEL LIKE WE COULD HAVE BEEN A LITTLE BIT FURTHER UP IF STRATEGY CHANGED AND THAT KIND OF THING FOR US. FOR SANDOWN I THINK IT WILL BE A BIT DIFFERENT, THE SETUP WILL REQUIRE SOME DIFFERENT THINGS, BUT WE’LL SEE HOW WE GO.”

Mostert will now prepare for the first Pirtek Enduro Cup Race and Round 12 of the Supercars Championship, the Sandown 500 on September 14-16.
