MOSTERT BATTLES HIDDEN VALLEY RACEWAY
Chaz Mostert has finished P17 & P12 in Race 15 & 16 of the Supercars Championship over the weekend at the Darwin Triple Crown.
Race 15 – Position 17
Mostert began the weekend finishing P14, P18 & P12 in the 45-minute Practice sessions.
Qualifying P17 on Saturday, Mostert had a relatively uneventful Race and finished where he began.
Mostert was disappointed with the result and was expecting to use Sunday’s Race as test for the No. 55 Supercheap Auto Ford Falcon FG X.
Race 16 – Position 12
Mostert was pleased to find better pace from his Supercheap Auto Ford compared to the day prior, but could not advance further up the order after starting P13.
Mostert has now moved from 11th into 9th in the Supercars Championship Standings and is looking forward to harnessing an aggressive car at Townsville next month.
“P12 IS NOT A BAD RESULT. WE CHANGED THE CAR A LOT THIS WEEKEND, AND THE BALANCE HAS COMPLETELY CHANGED FOR US. WE DIDN’T QUITE GET THE RESULTS I WAS HOPING FOR THIS WEEKEND. THIS TRACK, WITH THE TEMPERATURES AND STUFF LIKE THAT, WE GENERALLY STRUGGLE A LITTLE BIT WITH POWER COMPARED TO SOME OF THE OTHER ROUNDS, BUT I’M EXCITED TO GET BACK TO THE WORKSHOP AND BREAK DOWN ALL THE DATA. WE’LL GET ADAM DEBORRE ON THE JOB, AND NO DOUBT WE’LL ROLL OUT WITH A BIT MORE OF AN AGGRESSIVE CAR AT TOWNSVILLE, SO WE’LL SEE IF WE CAN MAKE SOME GAINS BY THE TIME WE GET THERE.”
Mostert will now prepare for Round 8 of the Supercars Championship, the Townsville 400, on July 6-8.
