MOSTERT P3 IN PUKEKOHE’S RACE 28

Race 28 – Position 3

After topping Practice 3 on Saturday morning, Mostert backed up his form by qualifying P4 for Race 28 despite some ill-timed rain affecting his final run.

Mostert was happy to start the Race on the 2nd row and made his way up to P3 by the halfway mark of the Race and eventually finished there, finding the podium for the second consecutive race.

The result is Mostert’s 3rd podium of 2018.

“WE EVEN HAD A REAL BIG SWING AT THE CAR FROM QUALIFYING TO THE RACE, SO IT’S A CREDIT TO ADAM THIS LATE IN THE SEASON. OF COURSE WE’RE NOT IN CHAMPIONSHIP CONTENTION, SO WE JUST HAVE A SWING AT THINGS AND SEE WHAT WE CAN LEARN FOR NEXT YEAR. SOME POSITIVES, SOME NEGATIVES, I FELT LIKE WE PROBABLY HAD THE THIRD OR FOURTH BEST CAR THERE TODAY.”

Race 29 – Position 6

Mostert reached the Top Ten Shootout on Sunday after Qualifying P5 and improved his starting position to P4 with an impressive lap.

Mostert had a tough start off the line for Race 29 and dropped to P6 before quickly heading in for his first Pit Stop on Lap 7.

Mostert pushed on to finish in P6 despite fighting against some unknown issues with the car and is looking forward to the final round of the year later this month, the Newcastle 500.

“IT WAS A POSITIVE WEEKEND. SUNDAY’S RACE DIDN’T REALLY QUITE WORK OUT FOR US FOR SOME REASON. WE’RE NOT TOO SURE WHY AND WON’T KNOW UNTIL WE GET THE CAR HOME AND WORK IT OUT, BUT OVERALL TO BACK UP THE WIN IN GOLD COAST AND GET A PODIUM YESTERDAY WAS REALLY COOL. P3 IS NOT A BAD RESULT, BUT AFTER GETTING THIRD YESTERDAY YOU KIND OF WANT TO GET IT AGAIN. WE HAVE A BIT OF WORK TO DO, A LOT OF WORK TO DO, AND WE’LL SEE HOW WE FARE AT NEWCASTLE.”

Mostert will now prepare for the final Round of the Supercars Championship, the Newcastle 500, on November 23-25.
