Supercars Championship Round 9, The Bend SuperSprint

Quick in Quali! ⏱

Chaz Mostert has finished P11, P11 & P16 at the The Bend SuperSprint!

Race 25 – Position 11 🏁

Mostert made it into Saturday’s shootout in P11, despite being on old-tyres and set the benchmark early with a ripping lap, which no one could top and he claimed pole position.

Mostert struggled to get the car off the line, putting him back in P4 by turn 1, but that soon turned into P2 when Whincup and McLaughlin came together.

Chaz stopped on lap 7, which meant they had a long way home on the soft-compound tyres which was hard work for the remainder of the afternoon, having to manage a tyre-life issue that put him down the order.

Race 26 – Position 11 🏁

Mostert qualified P3 in the 10 minute qualifying session and after slotting into P4 off the line, he was the first to stop on lap 5, undercutting the 3 cars ahead of him, before taking the race lead officially on lap 14.

Mostert couldn’t hang on however, as the car balance and tyre life late in the stint hurt him.

Race 26 – Position 16 🏁

Starting Sunday’s second race from the front row in P2, the balance of the race car was still a factor for the No. 25.

Mostert was within touch of the leaders early, but late in both stints the tyre life wasn’t there, and he was swallowed up by the cars around him and finished P16.

“We’ve got a bit of homework to do during the week, we had great qualifying pace, but struggled with the race car. We will be keeping our heads down this week, to turn it around before next weekend, to try and turn that qualifying pace into results. We’ve got another chance in a few days’ time, to leave here on a high and head to The Mountain.”

Mostert will now prepare for Round 10 of the 2020 Supercars Championship, which will be held at The Bend Motorsport Park in Adelaide on September 26-27.
